Track semen inventory

Open Breeding, then Semen Inventory.

The inventory is shared with everyone on your farm. Privacy opens Semen inventory privacy. Got it closes it.

Without a farm, the page says semen inventory is shared at the farm level and asks you to assign a farm. Go to farm settings opens that page. Add inventory stays unavailable until a farm is assigned.

Active lists straws still on hand. The count is the number of straws. Used lists straws that have been recorded as used. The count is how many were used.

An empty Active list says No active semen inventory yet. Add a ram to get started. An empty Used list says No used straw records yet.

Add inventory

Add inventory opens Add Inventory. The description says the record tracks straws for a ram your farm owns or previously owned, or for purchased semen.

Source is Collected or Purchased semen. It stays as it was when you edit.

For Collected, search Ram with Search ram... That list is rams your farm owns or previously owned. Another ram shows You can only add rams owned or previously owned by your farm under Collected. Use Purchased semen for other rams.

For Purchased semen, Ram source is Society ram or Not in registry. Society ram searches the registry. Not in registry asks for Sire name and an optional Registration number.

Documents accepts a PDF or image up to 10 MB each. The other fields are Date collected, Storage location, Straws, CSS, Cane code, Tank, and Canister.

Save confirms Semen inventory added. A ram that already has an active row on the farm shows An active inventory row already exists for this ram on this farm.

Select a row to open its details. An active row has Edit, which opens Edit semen inventory. Save changes confirms Semen inventory updated.

The Active columns are Ram, Straws, Cane, Tank, Canister, and CSS.

Use straws

Select one active row, then Use straws. The dialog is Mark as used.

Straws used cannot be more than the number available. The note says using fewer keeps the remainder active. Date used is required. The animal field uses your society’s name for a female animal, then used on.

Save usage confirms how many straws were recorded and how many remain. Using the last straw confirms Marked as used.

Used columns are Straws used, Date used, the female animal, and Cane. Select a used row to open Used straw record.

Restore straws puts the selected used straws back on the active inventory. One record confirms how many straws were restored.

Transfer or delete

Transfer opens Transfer semen inventory. Transfer to is a member on another farm. Transfer confirms Inventory transferred to the recipient's farm.

The recipient must be an active member on a different farm. A member without a farm shows Recipient must belong to a farm. The same farm shows Choose a member on a different farm.

Delete opens Delete inventory item? Confirm with Delete. The confirmation is Deleted. Deleting a used row also deletes that inventory record and its used-straw history.
