Customize animal record settings

Open Settings, then Record Settings, then Animal Record Settings. Changing these settings requires Manage settings.

Record Settings also includes Preview Certificate and Registration Types. The certificate preview is in Preview the certificate layout. Registration types are in Set up registration types.

A change brings up Unsaved changes with Save. While it saves, the button reads Saving.... The confirmation is Animal settings updated.

Animal display name

Animal display name sets the order of fields used on registration certificates and pedigree charts.

The starting order is Registration number, Breeder flock name, Name, and Scrapie tag. Each field is a chip. The menu on a chip swaps that field. The arrows move it earlier or later. The close control removes it. Removing the last field shows At least one display name field is required.

Add field… adds another field. The choices are Registration number, Name, Breeder flock name, Owner flock name, Scrapie tag, Farm tag, Date of birth, Percentage, For sale, For hire, For AI, and any custom fields you have added.

Preview shows a sample name with those fields, such as a registration number, flock name, and Starlight.

Sex labels

Sex labels changes the words used for Male, Female, and Castrate on animal forms and records. The starting words are Male, Female, and Wether. A blank label shows Sex label is required.

Default fields

Default fields lists the built-in fields you can rename, hide, or require. The columns are Field, Hide, and Required.

Select the pencil to rename a field. Reset to default restores the original name. A renamed field shows the original name, then the name you entered.

Hide removes that field from animal forms. Hiding a field also clears Required.

Name, Sex, Registration type, and Life status stay on the form. They are not in this list.

Breeder and Owner stay required while they are shown. Sire and Dam start required. Clear Required on those two to make them optional.

Purebred % and Other breed % are in this list. They appear on animal forms after Uses breed-up program is turned on under Settings, then Society details. The note there says to enable it when the society tracks purebred percentages for breed-up registrations.

Custom fields

Custom fields adds detail fields of your own. Values entered on an animal appear in Animal Details. An empty list says No detail fields yet.

Add a field with Text, Multi-line text, Number, Date, Dropdown, or Checkbox. A new text field starts as Detail field. A new checkbox starts as Checkbox field. A new dropdown starts with Option 1.

Open a field to set Label, Field type, Help text, and, except on a checkbox, Required and Placeholder. A dropdown’s Options are one choice per line. Saving a dropdown with no options shows Dropdown fields need at least one option. A blank label shows Custom field label is required.

The remove control deletes that field. It also drops the field from the animal display name.
