Invite a new member

Email someone a link so they can create a member portal account.

Last updated 1 day ago

An invitation creates the member record and sends the email in one step. To add someone through To Process first, use Add a new member.

Send the invitation

  1. Open People.

  2. On Members, select Invite.

  3. Enter the first name, last name, and email.

  4. Choose a membership type.

  5. Under Farm, select an existing farm, or select Create new farm… and enter New farm name. Flock name is optional.

  6. Select Exempt from membership fees when this member should be active without paying dues.

  7. Select Send invitation.

The dialog confirms with Invitation sent to that email. The member’s status is Invited, and a membership number is assigned.

People on the same farm share animal access. When the membership type has a fee and the exemption is left off, an unpaid dues charge is created.

An email that already belongs to an active member is rejected.

Membership emails must be on under Settings → Society details → Communication. When that category is off, the invitation is not emailed.

What the recipient does

The email subject is You're invited to join the organization name. The link is Accept your invitation, and it lasts 7 days.

  • A new account asks for a password and Confirm password, then Create account.

  • An existing Origin account uses Sign in, then Accept invitation.

After they accept, the status becomes Active and they complete their member profile.

Send it again

Open the member. While the invitation is still pending, select Resend Invitation. That sends a new link and the previous link stops working.

Invite someone already on the registry

A member who was added and approved, or imported without an account, already has a record. Open that member and select Invite to Member Portal. Confirm the email, then select Send invitation.

The approval confirmation page uses Send confirmation to member for the same invitation.
