Edit an animal record
Change an animal’s details, owners, and documents from the registry.
Last updated 1 day ago
An administrator’s save updates the record immediately. A member’s changes are submitted for approval instead. An archived animal cannot be edited.
Open the record
Open Registry.
Select the animal in the list.
Select Edit Record.
Change the fields, then select Save changes.
Cancel leaves the record as it was. If nothing changed, the save does not update the animal.
Fields that are hidden in Animal Record Settings do not appear. Labels match the names set there.
What you can change
Breeder and Owner(s) are at the top. A single owner is one member at 100%. Select Add co-owner to split ownership. How shares work is in Co-owned animals. An administrator can set an owner’s type to Non-member.
Identification is the name, sex, scrapie tag, and farm tag. Name and sex are required.
Birth details includes date of birth, life status, and visibility.
Litter size, conception, and ease of birth appear when those fields are turned on in Animal Record Settings.
Lineage is the sire and dam. Search for each parent. The animal cannot be its own parent. A required sire or dam must be filled in before you can save.
Percentages and Verification cover purebred percentage, when your organization uses a breed-up program, and DNA tested, dam verified, and sire verified.
Custom fields appear when they are defined in Animal Record Settings.
Registration shows the registration number, registration type, and status. You can change the number and type when the animal is not pending approval. The number cannot match another animal. Status can be Registered, Pending, Unregistered, or Rejected. A pending registration keeps its number and type until it is approved.
Service certificates, images, and documents on this screen can be added or removed while you are editing. They are saved with the record.
Other tabs
These tabs are on the same record. They do not use Save changes.
